A Winning Remodeling Project by Waller Group

Remodeling by Waller Group

After a particularly strong thunderstorm, the Brown’s called saying that they had a roof leak that flooded the kitchen, pantry, and into the dining room. Our emergency team went out immediately, and covered the roof with tarpaulins, while the insurance details could be finalized and we could begin to remove the damaged woodwork, drywall, cabinets, and part of the ceiling.

This was a big remodeling project as not only did the walls, ceiling, kitchen cabinets, and floor get damaged but the flooring in the kitchen and dining room ran throughout the whole house and all of it had to be replaced. This remodel became the Winning Remodeling Project for Waller Group in 2020.

The remodel involved:

Replacement Roof by Stormwall Roofing

    • Replacing damaged plywood and installing new 30-year warranty shingles across the entire 3500 sq. ft of roofing.
    • Cutting out all the inside damaged woodwork, drywall, and baseboards. Testing all the woodwork, checking for mold, and doing the remediation as required.
    • Repair all the woodwork and drywall and ceiling.
    • Removing all the kitchen cabinets and install new Kemper custom colored shaker style cabinets.
    • Remove existing granite countertops and install new white quartz countertops.
    • Remove and replace all the backsplashes and tiling on the kitchen walls.
    • Demo and remove all the existing tiling throughout the house and replace it with new plank tiling.
    • Replace the baseboard throughout the house with 6-inch oversized baseboards.
    • Install new lights in the kitchen, dining room, hallway, and family room.
    • Install new stainless-steel high-performance quiet hood.
    • Install all new kitchen cabinet hardware.
    • Rebuild demoed pantry.
    • Paint the kitchen, dining room walls, and ceilings.
    • Install new Double front doors.

quotes We can’t speak highly enough of Waller Group’s team from the minute we called them to help with the roof, then remodeling the kitchen, they were committed to helping us in every aspect of this remodel. Their expertise in helping with the insurance claim was amazing and Brian’s knowledge of insurance claims was incredibly helpful.
Once it was decided what was going to be repaired or replaced. We met with Joe and Loren from Waller’s design team and decided on the style of Kemper Shaker cabinets and oversize upper cabinets we wanted, plus an extended island, adding a hood vent, separate drinks fridge, etc. Waller Design then produced the architectural and 3D drawings showing how everything would fit together.
After the design was approved, their construction team was great to work with, especially Tom and Prim who did all the cabinet fitting and woodwork throughout the house.
Thank you to Brian Waller and Waller Group for all their hard work.

6 Things To Think About Before A Bathroom Remodel

Gallery - Showroom Tile - 12

What do you want and what is the budget?

Having a good idea of what you intend to do and planning a budget are two very important parts of getting started on any renovation project. If you are planning to renovate your bathroom, here are 6 things to think about before a bathroom remodel and prepare for first:

#1. Size Is Important in a bathroom remodel

bathroom design 6 Things To Think About Before A Bathroom RemodelMeasure the walls, floor, and space, before you start looking for bathroom fixtures. One of the most important things to consider before a bathroom remodel is how much space you have to deal with. When you see pictures of toilet fixtures on the Internet, you could believe that they are all the same size, but they do vary significantly in height, length, and width. Choosing the wrong size for the room can potentially have a detrimental effect on its functionality and its usability.

Try to think about how all the fixtures and furnishings will fit together in the room. Getting the dimensions wrong could lead to a slew of issues while you work on the project, and nobody wants to remove tile because a pipe was run in the wrong place.

#2. Design with Your Specific Requirements

When planning a bathroom remodeling project, it is crucial to understand how you usually use the space, how many people need to be able to access the sink or sinks, is this a family bathroom or just a downstairs hall bathroom, etc? Design features will change dramatically for someone who wants to use the bathroom more like a spa room,  than someone who just uses it to take a short shower. Make the bathroom exactly how you want to use it. You’ve lived in the house now for a period of time and know what you need and would like to upgrade

#3. Alternatives to think about

You have many choices of sinks, countertops, showers, toilets, tiling, to choose from in your bathroom and you may want to completely change the layout and design as a result of feature or lifestyle. At Waller Design we are experienced at guiding you on the options available, what works in the space and assisting you in making these decisions.

When it comes to sinks, think of how they will be mounted:
lipless sink 6 Things To Think About Before A Bathroom RemodelSelf-rimming sinks are the simplest to build. Often when two sinks are being utilized, an under-mount sink is preferred as it frees up more countertop space.
If you have a small bathroom and need more space, use a corner sink. This will maximize the space in the bathroom and allow other fixtures. cabinets to be fitted with enough room to make them functional.

#4. Keep the toilet hidden.

Include a wall to obstruct the view of the toilet from outside the bathroom in your renovation if possible. If space allows inside the bathroom, design the toilet inside its own space with a separate door. This can allow the bathroom to still be used for someone who wants to wash their hands or get something from a bathroom cabinet.  When the toilet is not in use, people often leave the door to the bathroom open. Concealing the toilet behind a separate space, wall, or even a cabinet, elevates the bathroom’s refinement.

#5. Design with Your Specific Requirements

When planning a bathroom remodeling project, it is crucial to understand how you usually use the space, how many people need to be able to access the sink or sinks, etc. Design features will change dramatically for someone who wants to use the bathroom more like a spa, for relaxing and unwinding, than someone who just uses it to take a short shower. Make a space that reflects your interests and needs. After all, you’re the one who’ll be using it.

#6. Trends and future Styles?

Another factor that many people are concerned with is how future homeowners would see their choice of the bathroom if they wish to sell their house in the future. which is why we choose the title 6 things to think about before a bathroom remodel. This last question usually comes up when someone is considering getting rid of a bathtub that they never use. If you are remodeling, then you should design to enjoy the space and not be worried about what investors would think unless you’re putting your house on the market right away. Trends change and consumers’ perspectives vary. Choose a style that brings you joy. To get what you really want, you will begin to think, “How much does it cost to remodel a bathroom?”

What do you want in your New Kitchen?

Kitchen remodel photograph by Waller Group

When you start to remodel your kitchen, regardless of if you are in the process of redecorating to help market your home or build your ideal kitchen, there are certain elements you can think about and prepare for first.

Determine your necessities!
The first step in improving your kitchen is determining exactly what you want. Like house hunting, it lets you pick the choices and help you attach a starting price on them.

There are many different possibilities in a remodel kitchen design, but unless you have a budget for it, you’ll have to choose the ones you really need. For instance…  Do you need more space? Will you want more living space? Are you looking for a kitchen with a better flow for your family?

Here are some questions you can use to help you focus your essential wants:

Are there any trouble areas in your kitchen?
What items are missing?
How easy is it to navigate around the kitchen?
What color swatch are you looking to use, or are you looking for natural wood?
What style of cabinets do you like?
What about flooring, tiles, wood?
Are you changing the lighting and fixtures?

Once you’ve got an idea of what you would like to achieve – it’s time to speak to the award-winning designers from Waller Design about these topics.

Kitchen Remodeling Project

kitchen remodeling project

Since 1961 we have been doing our absolute best to provide our Central Florida clients with the highest quality residential and commercial construction services. We had a wonderful experience with Don and Linda Bosko. They were so easy to collaborate with and work with in general. Some of the kitchen remodeling project highlights include:

  • Removing and replacing cabinet doors with new maple raised panel doors – we ordered the doors using a Sherwin Williams paint color that was custom mixed for our project – which allowed us to then paint the cabinet boxes with the same Sherwin Williams color and match the doors perfectly.
  • Removal and replacement of cabinet crown and light rail moldings.
  • Replaced cabinet hardware.
  • Removal of existing countertops. New countertops are 3CM Smokey Mountain stone.
  • Walls that were previously wallpapered also received a makeover by removing the wallpaper, texturing the walls, and painting them.

Entire Kitchen was transformed, and we are so happy with how it all came together!

“We chose Waller Construction & Design Center for our kitchen remodeling project as it was time for a makeover. Joe came over and we discussed what we had thought we would like done. He completely changed our way of thinking and we are so glad he did. We thought we would like to just paint our cabinets, he told us about re-facing and changing the whole look of the kitchen. And it’s a WOW!!!

Prim and Tom are by far the most courteous, hardworking, competent, timely gentlemen we have had to do work in our house. Everything was cleaned up before they left for the day. Your staff actually built 2 in-house paint tents with air vents, so there were no paint fumes in our home and also helped to keep the dust to a minimum.

In a period of 3 weeks we had a complete new WOW kitchen! Thank you so much.”

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year!” The Waller Construction team wishes you and your loved ones a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

We wish each of you a safe and happy holiday celebrating with family, friends, and loved ones. As tradition dictates, our team took some much deserved time to celebrate another great year and the upcoming holidays.

We also realize there are far too many people that go through the holidays without friends and family. Although we can’t get to everyone, this year we chose to honor some of our local veterans by sending them personalized Christmas cards thanking them for their service and sending them a little Christmas cheer.

From all of us at Waller Construction, we wish you a safe and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
